Parts of the Body and Illnesses

Week 24h– 26thJune

Last week we finished talking about families and possessions.
We listened to Sarah telling us about the people in the pictures.
The first photo was a picture of her mother and Martin. Martin is Sarah’s mother’s partner. He is a doctor. He and her mother work in the same hospital.
In the second picture we can see Sophie and her parents. Sophie is Sarah’s niece. In the last photo we can see Sarah and Adam. Adam is Sarah’s cousin.
  
Then we revised vocabulary about parts of the body.

We started talking about illnesses. Describing symptoms and giving advice.
We use “To have (or to have got) a ----ache” with
Headache – toothache – earache – backache and stomach ache
We can also:
Have a cold / have a temperature / have a cough and sneeze.

Practise the dialogues:

What’s the matter?
I have a headache.
You should take some tablets. You shouldn’t work too much.
___________________________________________
What’s the matter?
I have a toothache.
You should go to the dentist. You shouldn’t eat too many sweets.
____________________________________________________
What’s the matter?
I’ve got a backache.
You should rest. You shouldn’t carry heavy things.
Remember that we use should / shouldn’t to give advice or recommendation.
