"Murder in a Country House"

Week 18th – 20th March

Here we are again!

Now that we know the names of the rooms in a house and the furniture, let’s play “Cluedo”.

“Murder in a country house”

Mr Jeremy Travers, a famous and rich businessman was murdered on June 22nd 1938. On that day the family and Gordon, his business partner were at Jeremy’s country house celebrating Jeremy’s 60th birthday. They had dinner and went to bed. Next morning, when his wife Amanda went to wake up Jeremy, she found him in his bed…dead!

We suspected of Amanda, his wife. Her motive could be that she knew her husband was having an affair with his secretary, Claudia. We also suspected of Claudia. She was angry because Jeremy promised her to leave his wife, but, he didn’t.
Gordon and Barbara, Jeremy’s daughter, had an alibi. They played cards together after dinner. So, who did it?

Eugene thought it was Gordon… and he was right!
Gordon was in love with Jeremy’s daughter. Jeremy didn’t want Gordon to marry his daughter because he thought that Gordon only wanted the money. He said, “If you marry my daughter, all my money will be for my secretary.” So, Gordon got angry and murdered him!

How did Eugene know? He said it’s because he read a lot of books by Agatha Christie. He also said that business partners, women and money aren’t a good combination…
In my opinion, he had read the story before!

See you on Tuesday!

No more crimes. I promise.

Physical Description

Week 4th – 6th March

What’s new? Not much.

Last week we continued talking about “Go, get, have”. We asked and answered questions about ourselves using these verbs

We read a funny story about a Japanese businessman who had a meeting in London but took the wrong bus. He didn’t get to the airport, he went to a birthday party. He drank, he danced and had a fantastic time. But, he missed the plane and when we got to the meeting it was too late!

We worked a little on pronunciation.

And we started with vocabulary to describe people’s appearance.

For homework you had to describe somebody, either in your family or a celebrity.

This afternoon we’re going to focus on descriptions. Remember that we also learnt vocabulary about personality. So, you can talk about people’s appearance and also about their personality.

See you in this afternoon.
